You can always Triple Boot a machine. Install XP-32bit 1st, then Vista 64 and then Linux for emails and naughty picture sights.

What each is good for:

XP: Using most older networking, map building and torrent tools that Ahab and E gave me.

Vista: Gaming, Movies, Pictures and HDTV. It also has a habit of making Mac spend a lot of money on commercials trying to convince us that Vista is no good.

Linux: Does everything a Mac system can do, and it is Free! :prrr:

I'm going to use a duel boot for XP and Vista 64. Some of my CAD programs do not run on Vista but I have to admit I like Vista better than XP. Thats if I ever get my processor in.

Jonesy, I have been using Turbo Cad for 10 years now. I'm running version 14 and works great in Vista.

One thing nice about Vista. If you have driver or program problems it will try to fix itself or give you a options on what to do next.

What are the differences in gaming between XP and Vista 64? Does it run better? Better graphics? What?

Only if the game supports DX10. To date I think only Crysis is a DX10 game. I'm sure there will be more out in the future.

I want to quote the October Issue of Maximum PC (which I just received in the mail).

"If you already have Vista, there's no reason not to use it, but should you go out and buy Vista today? Probably not. With Windows 7's launch scheduled for early 2010, we're actually closer to that date than we are to Vista's launch. If you've ridden out the storm on XP so far, it probably isn't worth investing in Vista for just a year and a half of use."

I figure that is about when I will be due for a new rig. I'm currently running a 650i SLI mobo,E6600 Dual Core, 8800GTS and 3 (really 4....) gigs of ram.
