I think you guys will get a kick outta this.
Ok So heres the story.
Today I was adding a fan onto my new pc, and cleaning out some of the dust from the other. Nothin much. So when i goto hookup my cpu again. it starts, then shuts itself off. Repeat, about 10 times. While im on the phone with war_elephant, i try again. I have the pc on my lap, with just the power cord plugged in. Press power button......CLICK SMOKE!!!!!!!
OMG smoke pouring out from what seems to be right where the IDE and the power supply connectors are. Well. I thought it was over, mobo fried and all. Was ready to cry. So i go outside and fume and smoke a cigarette. Come back in, and take EVERYTHING out of the comp. including the motherboard. As i unscrewed it checking to see where it had fried from underneath. Hmm. Dont see no burns or any kinda evidence to suspect the mobo fried. Odd. but wait! the reset switch is completely fried! Just that wire and thats it. So I call old War back and he says, hey hook it all back up, u cant mess it up anymore then it already is. And bingo people. It works. It was the freakin reset sw cable..... FRIED!
